LISTEN UP: KILOMETER.

Sebastien Tellier makes some of the sexiest music (and album artwork) ever to grace our ears. A-Trak makes some of the most electrifying, clever, and recognizable remixes this side of the Atlantic. Put the two together and you get a hot, steamy, sensual mess of a remix. A-Trak’s remix of of Tellier’s “Kilometer” induces a stiffy (sorry, I just started watching Skins), and is borderline sensory overload. I’m warning you, you may not want to hear this around other people for the first time. Results could be disastrous, or really really really awesome.

LISTEN UP: DUCK SAUCE.

Duck Sauce is the production duo comprised of A-Trak and Armand Van Helden (heavy stuff). For the video for their song “Barbara Streisand” they were able to recruit some of their best buds for cameos. Any video that features Santigold, Fat Jew, Kanye West, Yelawolf, Chromeo, Vampire Weekend, Quest Love, Diplo and more is a top contender for my video-of-the-year. Surprised this video isn’t being released by Converse or Apple or some other corporation trying to get in with the youth of today…

DIFFERENT WAYS TO SPEND A DAY.

While my best friend from high school celebrated her engagement with her family and friends (minus me - I wasn't invited), I was reuniting, yet again, with a boy she and I both have a past with. Theirs was very short-lived, while ours, at this point, seems neverending. But it does make me reflect on the past, ponder the present and daydream about the future. I wonder who's happier with their life right now...or maybe we're equally satisfied with our current state of being, even though we are in such different places in our lives. Which brings me to my hypothetic reason for her not inviting me to celebrate, even though we were (and until this point thought us to still be) very very close friends. I don't fit the "mold"...never have. I don't conform, follow the "rules," or live a "normal" life (and I mean this in soooo many ways). She is now beginning her WASPlife and I accept the fact that she had to let me go in order to do so. I'm not angry. I accept her for who she is and the choices she makes...that's what friends do. I hope she had a magical night.

TOO CLOSE, FAR FROM.

In between too close and far from, which is none.

LOVE MY STATUS.

I find happiness in this music that feeds my mind, body and soul. A constant lover I can count on, but can't tangibly hold.

PEEP IT: HOT BABYSITTER.

HOT BABYSITTER
Danielle Defoe

Danielle is a very very old friend of mine, as well as an extremely talented writer, artist, poet, singer. Show her some love and check out her blog. The content can be racy, at times, but is always highly interesting, informative, inspiring and eye-catching. I hope to one day cross paths with her again. xx

LISTEN UP: OLD MUSIC LINKS.

The first track by Egypt comes from a mix which Jamie from The XX just did for Colette.

In The Morning (Let Your Love Come In)

This bangin' electro track is fashion mogul Karl Largerfeld‘s musical debut. He provides vocals on SomethingALaMode‘s contribution to a recently released compilation from colette.

Rondo Parisiano ft. Karl Lagerfeld

This track is from the Klaxons, a UK indie band. It’s more rock then their previous stuff, but with the familiar Klaxons sound.

Flashover

Japanese producer Shinichi Osawa remixed the Cazals track Poor Innocent Boys to create this busy electro/indie crossover.

Poor Innocent Boys (Shinichi Osawa Remix)

This track, by Digitalism, has been out for a while and is from their 2007 album Idealism. Amazing.

Echoes

Starfucker is indie inclined, but definitely worth listening to. This is one sweeet summer song.

Florida

Mark Ronson's last album was criticised for being too one-dimensional and all being covers. Ronson has moved away from that sound with Bang Bang Bang, which features MDNR & Q-Tip, to a sound that's much more electronic.

Bang Bang Bang (feat. MDNR & Q-Tip)

Australian Cullen is a big name to watch out for in the acoustic world. However, I didn’t think that would interest too many FPK readers, so I included the awesome Redial remix instead.

Easily Impressed (Redial Remix)

There have been quite a few remixes of Flashback by Calvin Harris, my personal favorite coming from DJ Kue. However, Virginian producer Manila Killa has produced a good contender, without changing the song too drastically.

Flashback (Manila Killa Remix)

This is Epyk‘s take on Jamaica‘s recent blog smash I Think I Like U 2. It's a guitar based track turned into electro gold...Madagascan electro gold. Exotic stuff.

I Think I Like U 2 (Epyk Remix)

This track is Grandtheft‘s remix of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers smash By The Way. Sick remix of a classic.

By The Way (Grandtheft Remix)

This indie track by Hockey was huge last year...and I still dig it.

Too Fake

This is a collab between Pharrell  and the Swedish House Mafia...yesssss you hear me right!

One ft. Pharrell
