LISTEN UP :: The Candyman Can.

Big ups to my new homie Fisk for introducing me to the musical stylings of some smaller-name electronic DJs this weekend! One such DJ is The Candyman (a.k.a. Julian Garland), who hails from Boulder, Colorado and along with Frequent-C, make up the Slim Thugz duo. The Candyman's music is a product of the melding together of electronic, glitch, and hip-hop sounds, with a dash of intergalactic flavor. If you enjoy the tracks posted below, visit Soundcloud to hear and download more from The Candyman.

LISTEN UP :: Lose Yourself in Sound.

As I walked away from the wreckage, bloodied and torn, I felt free and unrestrained. Every problem and worry, every cruel clawing castigation was buried beneath the steel wire frame. Unclouded and autonomous - I was able to walk away from everything that burdened me. Broken and bruised, I was completely unconstrained for the first time. You were no longer there - now enshrined in a fragmented tomb - your contorted and calloused body. Nothing satisfied me more than the thought of complete independence - away from the invisible restraint you so gleefully wrapped around me. (unholy rhythms)

Purity Ring’s “Ungirthed” may be one of the most amazing and addictive tracks I have heard in a long, long time. The second "Ungirthed" started to creep in, I immediately started bopping my head to the - what seemed at first to be off - beat, turned up my speakers, took a sip of the piff, closed my eyes, and let my mind, body and soul become lost in the glitchy, topped with a lil bit of grime, pulsing, heaven-sent sounds that surrounded me.

LISTEN UP :: ill-esha / Tron Purp Sounds + More.

Canadian-born producer ill-esha throws down some amazing, and somewhat different, kinds of tunes. The following bio appears on her FB page...
For the last decade, ill-esha has been an integral part of the North American electronic scene. Beginning as a vocalist, she soon added MCing and DJing to her repertoire, creating a dynamic and unique live show which has headlined alongside artists such as Andy C, Klute, Dieselboy, Vibesquad, LTJ Bukem, Tipper, T-Power & De La Soul. She has performed across North America, Europe and Asia; in clubs, at festivals, and even on TV shows on MTV Canada and the CBC.

In 2001 her first 12” single was released on New York label Breakbeat Science; since then ill-esha has worked steadily as a vocalist and producer on labels like BluSaphir, Haunted Audio, Daly City & Muti Music; hitting #1 singles download on Juno and #3 in the Beatport Electronic Charts. One of the founding members of the premier online community GlitchHopForum.com, her remixes are hugely popular, popping up in DJ sets across the globe. Her show is a fiery combination of original beats, glitch edits and live vocals, not to be missed!
I actually had the pleasure of catching ill-esha when she performed a live late-nite set at Kinetic Playground on January 8th and was blown away by her singing...yesss, I said singing! This chica not only throws down sick electronic sounds, she coos live over some of her own synthy and blippy instrumental beats. There are performers who I have seen try to pull this off, and failed miserably (I am going to spare those I am speaking of and not mention any names). But anyway, this badass beat-dropping bia did her thing on stage; and did it right. I found myself swept away by her musical stylings, and danced the night away in s trance-like state.

NOW IT IS TIME FOR SOME MUSIC.

There are a ton of free downloadable and streaming tracks below.
Enjoy!
