LISTEN UP :: The Candyman Can.

Big ups to my new homie Fisk for introducing me to the musical stylings of some smaller-name electronic DJs this weekend! One such DJ is The Candyman (a.k.a. Julian Garland), who hails from Boulder, Colorado and along with Frequent-C, make up the Slim Thugz duo. The Candyman's music is a product of the melding together of electronic, glitch, and hip-hop sounds, with a dash of intergalactic flavor. If you enjoy the tracks posted below, visit Soundcloud to hear and download more from The Candyman.

LISTEN UP :: Mmm Mmm Mmmm. LOVE Me Some Minnesota.

 ............................................................................................................................
MINNESOTA throws down some of the nassstiest, mind-blowing, body-moving, Dubstep/Glitch-hop/Future Bass, that, upon first listen, evoked from deep within me, feelings only comparable to those I have experienced when falling in love at first sight.
............................................................................................................................

Minnesota's music didn't grow on me...it had me at hello. And the more I listened, the harder I fell. And now, after more than two months of bumping his tracks, they still tease me, and please me, make me scream out, "Yessssss!" and  always leave me craving for more.

"Setting the record straight. No, I do not live in Minnesota. I live in Santa Cruz, CA. BUT, I grew up in Minnesota. And when I moved to Cali, everyone called me Minnesota. When I started DJ-ing, my friends called me DJ Minnesota. And I was never able come up with a cool DJ name, so it stuck. BAM!" (Facebook)

Minnesota's tracks can be heard in sets played by electronic music makers, such as: Bassnectar, Reid Speed, Blackheart and Rastatronics. In addition to making music, Minnesota is a cofounder of the production company, Vital Sc, and is also associated with the MalLabel, Tycho Records, and Gruntworthy music labels.
"I'm currently a History major at UCSC...I have almost no time to work on music, so most of my music comes when I have breaks from school." (Soundcloud)

Minnesota, who started producing electronic music more than 2 years ago, is now considered a major player in the Bay Area bass scene. His name has appeared on bills with big name DJs, such as: Nero, Flying Lotus, Rusko, Benassi, Ghostland Observatory, RJD2, Datsik, Excision and Skrillex.
"These are my jams! My goal is to make bass heavy dubstep/glitch-hop music that'll get you dancing, but is not the same old, 3 note transformer-step....I try to focus more on the melodic side of Dubstep, and hopefully, make quality song writing a more relevant factor in the genre." (Soundcloud)

LISTEN UP :: ill-esha / Tron Purp Sounds + More.

http://generationbass.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/ill-esha-390x390.jpg
Canadian-born producer ill-esha throws down some amazing, and somewhat different, kinds of tunes. The following bio appears on her FB page...
For the last decade, ill-esha has been an integral part of the North American electronic scene. Beginning as a vocalist, she soon added MCing and DJing to her repertoire, creating a dynamic and unique live show which has headlined alongside artists such as Andy C, Klute, Dieselboy, Vibesquad, LTJ Bukem, Tipper, T-Power & De La Soul. She has performed across North America, Europe and Asia; in clubs, at festivals, and even on TV shows on MTV Canada and the CBC.

In 2001 her first 12” single was released on New York label Breakbeat Science; since then ill-esha has worked steadily as a vocalist and producer on labels like BluSaphir, Haunted Audio, Daly City & Muti Music; hitting #1 singles download on Juno and #3 in the Beatport Electronic Charts. One of the founding members of the premier online community GlitchHopForum.com, her remixes are hugely popular, popping up in DJ sets across the globe. Her show is a fiery combination of original beats, glitch edits and live vocals, not to be missed!
I actually had the pleasure of catching ill-esha when she performed a live late-nite set at Kinetic Playground on January 8th and was blown away by her singing...yesss, I said singing! This chica not only throws down sick electronic sounds, she coos live over some of her own synthy and blippy instrumental beats. There are performers who I have seen try to pull this off, and failed miserably (I am going to spare those I am speaking of and not mention any names). But anyway, this badass beat-dropping bia did her thing on stage; and did it right. I found myself swept away by her musical stylings, and danced the night away in s trance-like state.

NOW IT IS TIME FOR SOME MUSIC.

There are a ton of free downloadable and streaming tracks below.
Enjoy!
