Since I have yet to experience this venue myself, the description below was excerpted from the venue's website. I will update this post to include my own experience, thoughts, likes and dislikes after I see my first show there tonight.
"Meet The Mid, located in Chicago‘s meatpacking district in the West Loop, it meets somewhere in the middle of the city between Chicago‘s downtown and the neighborhoods within the city; somewhere in the middle of a live music venue and an upscale nightclub. The Mid seems to be in tune with live music and nightlife to give music lovers the ultimate concert experience.

The 801-person venue is located at 306 N. Halsted. With the marquee contrasting against the industrial lay of the meatpacking district, The Mid has already earned its hipster seal of approval. Outside the doors of the club, the great views of the downtown skyline remind you of the wonderful city of Chicago. Inside The Mid, you will find three full service bars, ample room for dancing, cozy booths and table seating, and a secret VIP room equipped with its own bar and DJ booth. With the second floor balcony and seating, there is not a bad seat in the house, and the dual-floor bathrooms that are bigger than some apartments. Simple modern touches like exposed brick and dark wood floors make the place look rich yet relaxed. The stage is virtually a piece of art – the elevated stage boasts the electric-music below, and of course paired with a monster sound system separates The Mid from most. All of these elements keep with the venue’s direction to pave the way for music-centric clubs in Chicago.

The Mid is brought to you by the good people who brought you this summer‘s freshest new music festival, North Coast Music Fest, and are responsible for the big names at The Congress Theater and Soundbar, among other venues in the city. With big time artists already booked, such as JFK – one part MSTRKRFT, Steve Aoki, and Afrika Bambaataa, just to name a few, will have music lovers lining up. Weekly parties like Mayhem at the Mid on Fridays and Control Saturdays are already creating a buzz in the city."

LISTEN UP: BRRRAT! YOU SHOT ME IN THE HEAD.

SONICC
Location: Miami, FL
Bio: This house music-making big-timer went from unknown 17 year-old, to music producer in only a few months. He has remixed tracks from heavy-hitters such as: Deadmau5, Laidback Luke, and Kaskade. Hailing from the M.I.A, SonicC drew support from many electronic DJs with the release of “Stickin,” in 2009. Since then, SonicC has produced tracks and remixes on Nervous Records, Ministry Of Sound, Mixmash, Fools Gold, and Mute Records. Currently he is working on his debut full-length album for Dim Mak Records.

BRRRAT!(SONICC RMX)
ARMAND VAN HELDEN & STEVE AOKI

Armand Van Helden and Steve Aoki need no introduction, as their stamp on dance music is already firmly pressed onto dancefloors and into headphones. Their communal joint, "Brrrat!" is rapid fireworks with a cut of that classic rap exclamation, "brrrat." But from an EP of remixes comes Dim Mak young gun SonicC's rub on it and it sure suits his name—warbled and warp speed, slowing the "brrrat" sample at points to a water dribble.

THE DEATH SET
Location: Gold Coast-Sydney-Brooklyn-Baltimore
Bio: Spazzy lo-fi cross genre punk. Since mid 2005 we have played hundreds of shows mostly in Northern America but also in Canada, Australia, England, Wales, Germany, The Netherlands, France, Czech Republic and Austria. With artists such as: Spankrock, Ex Models, Matt and Kim, Bonde Do Role, Drop the Lime, Girl Talk, Wolfmother, The Presets, Dirty Projectors, Ninja Sonik, Shoplifting, Ghilain Poirier, PRE, Ecstatic Sunshine, Mika Miko, Meat Puppets, and many others...

YO DAVID CHASE, YOU POV SHOT ME IN THE HEAD (FT. DIPLO)
THE DEATH SET

Short and not-so-sweet "Yo David Chase, You P.O.V. Shot Me In The Head"—The Death Set's collab with Diplo and XXXChange—might be a little bit dated, lyrically. Is this possibly a jab at the mysterious series finale of The Sopranos? If you weren't into the show, there's enough sonic satisfaction to behold, as these are all perfectionists of bombast, that non-James Gandolfini champions can get down with.
